Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Thor Challenger Motorhome- Video
How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at our Saris MHS on the back of the 2023 Thor Challenger. So the MHS is a wheel mounted carrier, and so what that does for you, it actually secures your bike without making any contact to your frame. You have two cradles that are gonna ratchet down over your wheels and you have a single strap that holds your rear wheel in place. There's also a built in chalk to help secure your bike. So overall, if you have a type of bike, like I would say maybe a step through bike or a carbon fiber frame bike, a carrier like this would be the best option for you due to the fact that it makes no contact. So as you see, we are super close on the outside cradle and I wouldn't think it would be possible for most cases to fit a second bike in and still clear the vehicle, 'cause I would say we're maybe about six inches away from there with our bike. more

Kuat Piston SR Bike Rack Review - 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport- Video
How's it going This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Kuat Piston SR on the back of our 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. The Piston SR is actually a wheel mount carrier, essentially making contact with your bike and securing it from the wheels. It makes two points of contact on the front and rear. Essentially what this is for, is this is gonna be for the person that has a unconventional frame, or a carbon fiber frame, nice paint job. Anything where you don't either can't, or don't want to make contact with the frame of the bike, that's gonna be your best option. As far as your clamps here, these guys are gonna go between 29 and 20 inches as far as a wheel diameter, and it can adjust for a fender as well. more

Hi, neighbor, this is Ed here, giving you a review, a little look at our Kuat Transfer V2 on the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. So let's take a look at this guy. So the, the Transfer V2 is actually a wheel mount bike carrier that's going to work out well for a variety of different styles of bikes. If you have a carbon frame, a carbon fiber frame, or if you have a unconventional frame, like a step through, or a lady's bike, you know, this would work 'cause since the mounting points is the front and rear wheel, it can work across the board on all of those things. Really handy as far as the way that you set this guy up, it's just a ratcheting system where you put the weight down on your front tire, and on your rear wheel, you just use a little ratchet strap to secure it. This guy can support bikes up to 40 pounds per bike, and support a wheel width of up to three inches. more

Swagman E-Spec Electric Bike Rack Review - 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport- Video
How's it going This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Swagman E-SPEC Electric Bike Carrier on the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. So the E-SPEC is a frame-mounted bike carrier. This guy's gonna make contact with the frame. If you have a carbon fiber bike or a step-through bike, or a different style frame, it may not be the best option, a wheel-mounted carrier is maybe where I would guide you, but if you're okay with that contact, this is gonna be one of your three points of contact. You're gonna have a cradle with a strap on the front and rear wheel, that will support a wheel up to three inches wide if you want, I mean, well, if you have fat tires, you can add a cradle that will go up to five inches. Something to take notice of is also with the E-SPEC, it doesn't tilt so you can access your cargo area, when the bikes are loaded to it, but that is what also gives you the stability to maintain the 70-pound rating on an RV or SUV or car. more

How's it going This is Ed here taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on the back of our 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. So, the OnRamp is actually a very versatile bike carrier. It's good for your e-bikes, up to 66 pounds each. It's capable for RV and off-road use up to 40 pounds per bike, and it's gonna help you 'cause it comes with a included ramp to help you get the heavier bikes onto the carrier. So that's kind of a huge plus with it. As far as the way it secures your bike, it is a front frame mounted carrier, so you're gonna have a contact point here, as well as two straps on the cradles to secure your bike on the carrier. more

All right, so why would you want to go with a wheel mount bike carrier So if you have a bike that is a carbon frame, or if you have something that's a fancier paint job, or something where you just don't want contact to the actual structure of your bike, a wheel mount carrier is gonna be a great option for you. Now, as far as the type of dimensions we're looking at as far as your wheel, up to 29 inches, as well as being able to support bikes that have fenders on the lower position. As far as the adjustment bar here, it's tool-free, so you'd be able to just squeeze these two knobs on the side here and make adjustments going down the pins. That's another really cool feature on the Piston Pro. more

Alright, now this guy here is a wheel mount bike carrier and you may want to know why you would want a wheel mount carrier. So if you have a carbon fiber frame or a bike that is, has a fancy paint job or a unconventional bike, like a step through, a wheel mount carrier is gonna be a good option because it doesn't make any frame contact. And as far as the cradle, it can support up to three inches. So your fat tire bikes won't work, but as far as your diameter, you can go up to 29 inches and down to 20 inches. I also can support bikes that have fenders just by mounting to the wheel at a lower point. more

Alright, so we're gonna take a closer look at the Sport Rider SE. We have our e-bike on here and the first thing I would like to point out is that this is a frame mount bike. What that means is your bike is secured by the frame to your carrier. If you have a carbon fiber bike, unconventional, like a step in bike, or you know, just a kid's bike or anything, a wheel mount carrier may be a better option because it makes no contact to the frame and it's a wider variety of types of bikes that you can secure to it. more

How's it going y'all This is Ed here at etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the RockyMounts AfterParty swing away bike carrier on our 2023 Chevrolet Blazer. All right, now this guy can support bikes up to 60 pounds per bike, and one of the really cool features of it is the fact that not only does it tilt away, it also tilts out, well, opens out, so you can access the rear of your vehicle without having to take your bikes off. Now, the AfterParty, this guy is gonna be a wheel mount bike carrier. Now why would you need a wheel mount carrier If you have a bike that's has carbon fiber in the frame or unconventional style, a wheel mount's gonna be the best way to secure your bike to your carrier, because it makes no contact to the frame and all this area wouldn't matter as far as, you know, maybe a frame mount style bike carrier. You can make adjustments as far as the different wheel size. And as far as your tilt feature, underneath here, there's a blue handle. more

How's it going This is Ed here and we're takin' a look at the Saris MHS on the back of the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. Well, the MHS is a solid bike carrier for you if you have two heavier e-bikes. It can support the weight of up to 80 pounds per bike and, as far as your wheel mounts, these guys are adjustable and they can support wheels up to a sizes between 20 inches and 29 inches using the tool free adjustment bar here and it also support a bike with a fender in the lower position where it would clear your fender. As far as the style of carrier, this is what's called a wheel mount carrier. Basically what that is is no contact to your frame. This is gonna work for any style of bike, but it's usually gonna be for a person that has a carbon frame or a type of frame where they don't want any contact from the carrier. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
How's it going, this is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination four-bike carrier on the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Destination is a four-bike platform carrier, and as far as being a carrier, is one of the better values to move four bikes. It is a frame mount where you're gonna have contact with your bike's frame, and then you have two straps along with the cradles that are gonna tie down to keep your wheels and everything stable. As far as how close you get to the vehicle with the bike on the closest position, you can kind of see with my handlebar here, I'm pretty close. Rocking it right here, I wouldn't be worried about it making contact, but it's something to definitely consider when you're making your purchase as far as the length of your handlebars. Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 2 Bike Rack Review - 2019 Chevrolet Traverse- Video
How's it goin' today This is Ed with etrailer.com, and we're takin' a look at the Sport Rider SE on the back of the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. So, the Sport Rider is actually a really solid e-bike carrier. It has a weight capacity of up to 80 pounds per bike. One thing I think is a con is the fact that, you know, you would have to lift up your bike to get it up to this higher platform on your Traverse. As far as the contact, you have three points of contact on the bike from the carrier, two straps on your wheel cradles, as well as your padded hook. If you have a carbon fiber bike or something that has a nice paint job or, you know, a step through bike or anything like that, you may wanna look towards a wheel-mounted option. more

How's it going today This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Yakima Ridgeback four-bike carrier on the 2021 Nissan Murano. The Ridgeback is a four-bike carrier, also available in a five. As far as the four-bike configuration, that's gonna rate 40 pounds per bike. As far as the type of person this bike carrier would work for, it's gonna be someone that's not particularly worried about contact with the frame, 'cause that's how it's suspended. As far as on the rear of the vehicle, you can see that it's gonna obstruct basically everything as far as your tail lights, license plate, backup camera, and a portion of your back window. So, something to keep in mind. more

How you doing This is Ed here at etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Carrier on the 2021 Nissan Murano. Now the Destination is a solid bike carrier for your E-bikes, that weigh up to 70 pounds each. As far as your contacts, you have on the rear wheel, a single strap, the front wheel, you have two straps, and a center mast clamp that makes contact with the frame. If you have a carbon fiber bike or something with a special paint job, you definitely don't wanna go with something that's gonna make this kind of contact, however, we do offer cradle mount options. So as far as clearance on the rear of the vehicle in the upright position, the bike carrier will affect your backup sensors as well as your backup camera and license plate. It looks like the tires also will be obscured, you know, well, no, it looks pretty good as far as clearing the back of your tail lights, but depending on your bike, you may still have interference as far as seeing from your handlebar, so that will vary from your style bike. more

Now, this guy is constructed of powder coated field, and also has a padded hook. On the bottom you're gonna have adjustable wheel loops, so it's gonna accommodate different wheel bases. Now, with this guy being rated at 35 pounds per bike, it wouldn't be the best option if you have a heavier bike like an e-bike. But if you have a road bike or mountain bike, that would be great for it. Also to consider is, if you have a carbon fiber bike or something with a nice paint job, the way that the bike is secured is making contact with the frame. more

As for how it's gonna mount, we're gonna have this pretty heavy duty clamp and that's gonna have the ability to adjust, so you're gonna be able to fit a lot of alternative frame bikes on here. We're gonna have two additional mounting points, one in each tire, but since we are making frame contact, I wouldn't recommend using any carbon frame bikes. Now the top of our wheels won't be obstructed though, so you'll be able to haul a lot of fender bikes. more

Now this is gonna be a great bike rack for you if you're looking for something at more of the beginner level, something that's gonna just be for your family just to get your bikes from point A to point B. And then we're gonna have this kind of clamp strap contraption that connects to our frame using this padded point here and the straps that wraps around it. The XC2 is gonna be a very popular option because it's at a very affordable price point where you still get the stability of a platform rack without paying the usual platform rack prices. This is gonna be a very minimalistic bike rack, though, where you have your basic features and ideal for people that don't wanna spend extra for features they may not need. So all in all, this can carry a 35-pound bike, or two of them, actually. And then you have your basic wheel hoops and a frame mount. more

So the Destination four is actually one of my favorite bike racks to recommend for people just getting into the bike rack world because it's very versatile, it's very lightweight, it's very compact, and it can carry most types of bikes. Now it does have its downsides too where it has a 35 pound per bike weight capacity. So if you have a heavy electric bike, this might not be the best fit for you, but if you're looking for something that is not super duper large, but has the stability of a platform rack, this is a great option to look at. Now we are missing out on a feature here, which is gonna be the tilt away feature. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the RockyMounts MonoRail on the 2023 Nissan Rogue. Now this is gonna be a great option for you if you wanna ride with a friend and you guys ride maybe on your heavy e-bikes or anything like a carbon frame or alternative frame bike. What's gonna give it the ability to accommodate the carbon frame and the alternative frame bikes is this hook that attaches to a tire and this strap that's on the other tire. Since we're not making any frame contact, it's gonna be a great option for those types of bikes and it's gonna be able to hold 60 pounds per bike easily being able to hold those heavy e-bikes. What's nice about this bike is all the touch points are gonna be blue, including this lever at the bottom, and this is gonna allow us to use our tilt away feature. more

This here is the Swagman XC2 Platform Style bike rack that we installed on our 2024 Subaru Outback. So right off the bat, I do wanna let you know that if you have a carbon frame bike, this isn't gonna be the bike rack for you because even though it's a platform style, we're still making frame contact right here. Now, if you have a regular bike without a carbon frame, this is great still because this is padded, and it holds your bike securely. more

Yakima OnRamp 2 Electric Bike Rack Review - 2021 Nissan Murano- Video
How's it going This is Ed here with etrailer.com. We're taking a look at our Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Carrier on our '21 Nissan Murano, right. This guy has a solid, black powder-coat finish design, so it's gonna give you solid, rust-resistance. Also, the weight capacity for this guy is up to 60 pounds per e-bike. The OnRamp is also RV-rated, but it does drop your capacity down to 40 pounds per bike. So this is also up, makes contact with the frame of your bike. more

Swagman E-Spec 2 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Nissan Murano- Video
How's it going guys This is Ed here and we're taking a look at our Swagman E-spec electric two bike carrier on the back of our 21 Nissan Murano. Alright, and the E-spec is constructed of black powder coated steel can support your e-bike up to 60 pounds per bike, right And your bike is actually gonna attach to the E-spec at three points of contact. You have a padded hook at the top of your frame as well as two padded cradle and straps for your front and rear tire. Because this is gonna make contact with the frame of your bike. I wouldn't recommend this to you if you have a carbon bike or anything with a fancier paint job where you didn't want any contact to the frame. Alright, and this guy's super easy to take off. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2021 Nissan Murano- Video
So how you guys doing today This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Carrier on our '21 Nissan Murano. Alright, so right now we're gonna take a look at the Destination's construction. It's made from black powder coated steel. A bike carrier like this is gonna work great if you have like a more common type of bike frame, if you have something that's carbon fiber or you have a nicer paint job, you may wanna avoid this 'cause it will make contact with the bike's frame. So the Destination is rated for 35 pounds per bike. As far as the system is of removing the bike, it's pretty easy. more

Hi, John with etrailer. Listen, if you have more than one bike in your life, you need this. This is the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 hitch-mounted bike rack that we've installed on our 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe. Now the Destination 4 is gonna be a platform-style bike rack, and it does have a curved platform to it, so that's gonna accept more different wheel bases on your bikes. Now just to note, this does make frame contact primarily. So if you are a little sensitive about your carbon fiber bike frames, this may not be the rack for you. more

Hey everyone, it's Yvie Angeline here at etrailer, and today we have Yakima OnRamp two-bike rack for electric bikes, and we're gonna take a look at how it fits our 2018 Newmar Ventana motor home. For your Ventana motor home, it may be a little tricky to get bike racks on here because of the clearance. So because of where our hitch receiver is and how long the bike rack is, I actually was not able to put a bike on the inside. That's more because of the handlebars, though, if you had shorter handle bars, let's say for a road bike, you would probably be okay. But here's some measurements for you so that right off of the bat you'll be able to see how much clearance you have. So what we're gonna do is, we're going to measure from our bumper to the tray, and that's gonna be 12 inches, or one foot. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about the Yakima OnRamp bike rack on the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz. Now, this is gonna be a excellent choice if you're looking for something that's gonna haul those heavy e-bikes and it's gonna have an arm ramp to make it a lot easier for you. Since this carrier can carry our heavier e-bikes it's gonna be able to hold up to 66 pounds per bike holding two bikes. Now I'd recommend, when you do get your bikes up here, just taking off your batteries, maybe either storing 'em in your bed or somewhere else in your vehicle. Just gonna save you on some extra weight. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be talking the Kuat NV Base 2.0 Bike Rack on the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz. Typically, I would recommend a tailgate pad for anyone who has a bed on their vehicle, but the Santa Cruz has a smaller bed and a lot of times, they can have a Tonneau cover built into them. So that's gonna take up a lot of room in your bedding. You won't be able to fit a lot of bikes in there. In that case, I'd recommend a hitch bike rack. more

Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be talking about the Swagman XC2 Bike Rack for two bikes on the 2023 Kia Sportage. Now, I'd recommend this to anyone who's kinda getting into biking. This is a very entry-level platform style bike rack, maybe it's just you and a friend who go out, but I'd definitely recommend it to the beginners. The Swagman's gonna be able to hold two bikes, 35 pounds each, so it won't be able to accommodate those heavier e-bikes. And it's gonna have only one tie-down point, and that's gonna be on its frame with this hook here. more

Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. Today we'll be talking about the Yakima FullTilt bike rack that holds five bikes on the 2023 Hyundai Santa Cruz. Now this is gonna be a good option for you if you're kind of looking for something that's gonna haul a lot more bikes than your typical platform style bike rack that won't take up near as much room. I will say, typically, I would recommend a tailgate pad for hauling your bikes instead. But with how small the bed is on the Santa Cruz, it's not gonna be able to hold a lot of our standard or larger sized bikes. So I think this is gonna be a good fit. more

All right, Matt with etrailer, and today, we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Destination Platform Bike Rack on the 2023 Toyota Highlander. I think this is gonna be a good choice if you're just looking for something that's gonna be an entry level bike rack just get your bikes from point A to point B. It's gonna have the capacity to hold two bikes, 35 pounds each, so unfortunately, it won't be able to accommodate your heavier e-bikes, and it's gonna have three tie-down points, one on each tire, using a strap. And we're gonna have a clamp on the frame. So unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend using any carbon frame bikes, but it will be able to accommodate some other alternative frame bikes, since this kind of slides up and down and can rotate some. If you wanna get into your hatch, you're gonna have to take the bike off, since this doesn't have a tilt-away feature. more

Kuat Piston Pro 4 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Toyota Highlander- Video
Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today when gonna talk about the Kuat Piston Pro Bike Rack for four bikes on the 2023 Toyota Highlander I'd definitely recommend this bike rack for anyone who wants a premium bike rack, but either wants to go out with the family, make sure you can haul all four of your bikes, or if you wanna go out with friends and ride your bikes with them. What's nice about it is that it's gonna make two points of contact, one on each tire, so you're gonna be able to haul a lot of carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes. And for all four bikes, you can carry up to 40 pounds. Now the nice thing about this rack is it has a tilt-away feature. Now there's a couple pros and cons to it. more
